Flagship Sailing FAQ’s

Q: Is there an initiation fee to join?

A: No, the $250.00 a month is “all in”.

Q: Do I have to buy the fuel that I use?

A: No, this is part of your monthly club dues.

Q: Are there any hidden costs at all?

A: Not really. The only additional expenses would be if you lost a winch handle, or boat hook overboard, or if you don’t clean up your trash there is a cleaning fee of $25.00

Q: What if something on the boat breaks when I’m using it?

A: We expect normal wear and tear, report it to a club representative so we can get it fixed. If it is plain old neglect on your part, then we expect you to help with the repair expenses.

Q: Can I take a boat out overnight?

A: Not immediately, it is based on your proven sailing ability and then on a case by case basis.

Q: Can I spend the night on the boat at the marina?

A: Yes, as long as you check in by close of business that day. (6:00pm)

Q: How many days a month can I really use a boat?

A: The reservation system is on a first come, first served basis. We encourage the members to only reserve boats as they intend to use them, and not “block” boats.

Q: Can I bring friends sailing?

A: Of course! We encourage you to show others the great sport of sailing.

Q: Are classes available?

A: Yes, we have a variety of classes available; we currently use the ASA curriculum as well as our own Tampa Bay Sailing curriculum.

Q: Does my past sailing experience count?

A: Absolutely, we just take you for a check ride so you can learn our boats, and we can get to know you.

Q: Are there ever club events?

A: Yes, we have BBQ’s, flotillas, even multi day trips as a club.
